A loan of $1,550 helped to make improvements to her home.

Gisella Maria's story

Gisella is 39 years old and lives in the city of Ica with her son, whom she loves and who is her main reason for living. Gisella is a very friendly, hard-working and enthusiastic person who puts all her efforts into making her son prosper. She is both father and mother to him. Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial resources and the need to work in order to cover costs, Gisella was not able to study, even though she would very much have liked to. In her spare time, Gisella likes to watch films and, on occasion, she prepares a delicious "ají de gallina" (a traditional Peruvian, chicken-based dish) to share with her family. Through her own initiative, and with a lot of determination and dedication, Gisella has a small business selling groceries. She work every day from early in the morning, for around eight hours. She likes her work and thinks that it is going well because of her good prices and the friendly service she gives to customers. Gisella is very grateful to Kiva lenders as, thanks to the support provided, she will be able to improve her home. She wants to build a wall in order to separate her business and her home. Then she will continue working and putting in a lot of effort to achieve her dream of having her own house.
