A loan of $175 helped to buy merchandise for her store.

Luz Marina's story

Luz is a 32-year-old, single woman. She lives in the city of Chincha. Luz is a friendly, hardworking, and enthusiastic person with big dreams of excelling. Unfortunately, due to financial hardship, Luz had to to work in order to make ends meet, so she was not able to go to college and study Law like she'd hoped.

In her free, Luz enjoys listening to music and, on special occasions, she cooks her delicious Pachamanca (a typical Peruvian dish) to share with her family. By her own initiative, and with much hard work and dedication, Luz works in a small grocery store. She works 10-hour days, each day from the early hours of the morning. Luz enjoys her work and believes that it has gone so well for her due to the competitive prices she offers and the kind way she treats her customers.

Luz is very grateful for the opportunity this Kiva loan gives her. With it, she will buy larger quantities of merchandise for her store such as rice, sugar, oil, sodas, candy, and other items. In this way, Luz will keep her store better stocked and will be able to serve more customers. She will continue working hard to reach her goal of becoming a professional one day.
