Nyonje Group's story

Everline is a member of Nyonje Group in Kakamega South District. She is pictured with 17 One Acre Fund farmers, 15 women and 2 men. Everline is standing on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Everline first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Everline joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and grow enough food for the family.

Everline described her harvest as very good last year, but believes she can have an even better one this year. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and repair her home. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Everline’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 8.5 acres of land.
