Benon was born in 1962 in Buhunga – Rukungiri. He started by growing crops like millet and maize. He then started trading in cows along the way in 2003 with limited capital which affected his profits from the business and he was not able to compete in the market.

Later, in 2006, he joined UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) – Rukungiri Branch to get financial assistance to boost his business. Since 2006, Benon’s business has improved and is able to educate his children.

Benon praises UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) for its assistance since now he is able to support his family with ease. Before, he used to rely on crops only which were often affected by weather; now he is able to cater for his children’s education through increased family capacity since now his businesses are empowered economically.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of UGAFODE's program for clients who live in isolated rural areas with limited access to financial services. Uniquely, UGAFODE focuses its efforts on agricultural areas in Uganda that are over 50 km from their branches, providing loans to both groups and individual borrowers. The organization believes that the risk of offering services to remote clients is outweighed by the benefits to customers and their often underserved communities.
