Hugues lives in Rendel, in the South Department of Haiti, an area with erratic access to electricity. He has had a store for 5 years that sells recharge card and recharge cell phone with inverter. He has recently decided to start selling EarthSpark clean energy products to expand his current business.

With a Kiva loan, Hugues will be set up with a “Business in a Bag”, a kit containing a personalized mix of small-scale clean energy products, marketing materials and training on energy literacy, SMS tracking of sales, and basic business skills. Hugues would like to sell solar energy desk lamps with mobile phone charging capability. He wants to sell clean energy products because he likes business and the local population really likes EarthSpark products. He is married and has 12 children in school. Rendel is very vulnerable to flooding due to deforestation.
