Fagilia Group's story

Fagilia is a group of 20 farmers in Kakamega South District represented by Lilian. The group has 8 women and 2 men. Lilian is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to her on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of maize, millet and sorghum. Lilian first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Lilian joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and access the best input prices.

Prior to joining One Acre Fund, Lilian was only able to harvest 7 bags of maize per 2 ½ acre, but after joining One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains, she was able to harvest 10 bags per acre. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Lilian’s group will receive 5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
