A loan of $250 helped to purchase a new stock of charcoal and fuel wood for sale.

Naima's story

Naima is a resident of Likoni, Kenya. She is a charcoal seller and has been doing this business for 10 years. Naima is a married mother of five children, two are grown-ups and only the last two are school-going. The family also earns some income from rental houses.

She was introduced to Milango by her friends and is asking for a loan of 21,050 Kenyan shillings to purchase a new stock of charcoal and fuel wood for sale. She will pay for her children’s school fees from the extra income.

Despite the challenge of the high cost of transportation and the occasional lack of fuel wood stock, Naima believes the business has a future. Besides getting the income to educate her children, she looks forward to setting up a farming business/project in the future.
