A loan of $525 helped a member to buy pesticides and seeds for her farmland.

Chin's Group's story

Aged 55 years, Chin is widowed and lives in a rural village located in the Battambang province’s Ek Phnom district, Cambodia. She is a mother of five children, one of whom is dependent on her and still in school. For the last twenty years, Chin has been farming rice and selling vegetables to make a living. She can earn about 60,000 KHR per day from her current business and can save about 10,000KHR each day for future needs.

This is the first loan for Chin’s group with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She is requesting a loan for 1,000,000 KHR. Chin, who is the leader, will use her portion to buy pesticides and seeds for her farmland. She hopes to increase her harvest which will improve her living standard.
