A loan of $1,425 helped a member to buy fertilizer, insecticide, and to pay for plowing fees.

Lang's Group's story

Lang, 37, is married and has three children, two of which are school children while one is a paid-worker. She and her family live in the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province. For her, one hectare of cassava field is the only primary source of income to meet her family's daily food expenses. To supplement this income, her husband also works. She has been involved in this business for 10 years and it enables her to earn up to 17,200 KHR per day. This is the fifth loan for Lang with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). After the successful repayment of her past loans, she feels confident that she can continue to upgrade her standard of living progressively. Now, she is in a group of four in order to apply for a new loan. They are seeking 1,400,000 KHR each. As the group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer, insecticide, and to pay for plowing fees. She hopes to have good crops and make more income so that she can build a big house for her family.
