A loan of $525 helped a member to pay a plowing fee to replant her cassava.

Yan's Group's story

Yan, a 49-year-old mother of seven children from Kampong Cham Province in Cambodia, is a local farmer who grows rice and cassava each on one hectare of farmland. The cash-crop has returned about 22,200 KHR per day to cover the basic need in her family. Currently, she is in need of working capital to support her crops, and so she formed a group of two to apply for a new loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She used her past loan smartly to support her business, including paying a weeding fee and buying insecticide to maintain her yield. She also repaid her loan completely. This time, she and her co-borrower are seeking 1,000,000 KHR each. As a group leader, she will use her loan portion to pay a plowing fee to replant her cassava. She hopes to get more income from the business to continue upgrading her living in a good manner.
