A loan of $1,500 helped to pay off land purchases.

Noemi Isabel's story

Noemí, 55, has three children: two sons and a daughter. She currently lives with an 8-year-old grandson and her 22-year-old son who is in technical high school and will go on to study engineering next year. Two of her children live overseas. Noemí has been making and selling tortillas for 22 years, although now she only makes and sells tamales because her doctor does not allow her to cook tortillas over fire. She learned her trade from her mother who taught both her and her sister. She buys supplies at the market which is 1.5 kilometers from her house. The loan she is requesting through Fundación Campo is to pay off two plots of land she purchased. The loan will mean the person selling the land will have to make it legal before possibly leaving the country, which would make things difficult for her. Her goal is to set up a store to earn more income and support her son so he can study engineering at the university. She used to run her own store but had to close it because of crime.
