A loan of $400 helped to buy long sleeve shirts, skinny pants, and stockings.

Florinda's story

Florinda is 36 years old. Together with her life partner, Raul, age 45, she is proud to have three children: 16 year-old Zayra, 13 year-old Kendy and 5 year-old Luis. They share their family experiences in an adobe home constructed with the support of her family. She initially worked together with her husband in agricultural work such as the production of organic cacao on some plots of land which she inherited from her family. Later, motivated by the high demand of clothing which she saw in her district, she decided to try her hand at the business, beginning with a dozen shirts and pants.

She has been in the business for almost three years now. With time she has succeeded in making this business an important source of income for her family, in conjunction with the cacao production carried out by Raul. Although she admits that travelling around the different zones of her district tires her out considerably, this work is, in the end, relaxing.

Nevertheless, she feels that this work is her calling: Thanks to her contact with a wide variety of people, she has formed many friendships as well as gained regular customers.

In order to increase her income she plans to buy merchandise in bulk. During subsequent weekends she will travel to the different areas in her district.

In the future she plans to open a clothing store with a store front that opens onto the street of her home.

This is her first loan with MFP. She is thankful and pleased to have this opportunity. She is also committed to a punctual repayment. On this first occasion she requires 1,000 nuevo soles to buy the merchandise, including long sleeve shirts, skinny pants and stockings.
