Sang'alo C Group's story

Sang'alo C is a group of ten farmers from Bungoma South District represented by John. The group has nine women and one man. John is on the right in the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs consisting of the materials necessary to plant half an acre of maize, millet, and sorghum will be delivered to John on credit. John joined One Acre Fund during the "long rains" season in 2010 and is now enrolling for the "long rains" 2013 season. John joined One Acre Fund so that he could gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and grow enough food for his family.

Prior to joining One Acre Fund, John was only able to harvest three bags of maize per acre, but after joining One Acre Fund, he was able to harvest 12 bags per half acre during the 2012 "long rains" season! He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and buy iron sheets. John’s group members will each receive enough farming inputs to plant on half an acre of land during the 2013 "long rains" season. In total they will receive enough farming inputs for five acres of maize and sorghum.
