Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $375 helped to buy items such as shampoo and groceries to sell in her sari-sari (variety) store.

Irenea's story

Irenea is 49 years old, married, and has six children. Irenea works hard to provide for her family. She runs a sari-sari (variety) store in the Philippines and has applied for a PHP 15,000 loan through NWTF to buy items such as shampoo and groceries to sell in her store. Irenea has borrowed and repaid five loans from NWTF before this loan. She has been running the general store for 25 years and also earns an income from food vending.
Irenea aspires to save enough money so that she will be able to afford to send her children to college.
