A loan of $500 helped to buy stock of rice, cereals, wheat flour, cooking oil, etc.

Asha's story

Asha lives in the Likoni area of Coast Province, Kenya. She is married and has two school-going children. For the past 5 years, Asha has owned and run a food café, mainly selling cooked food. She also earns additional income from the rental houses owned by the family. The area has a large population, most of whom work on the island and return to the mainland in the evenings, with little time to prepare meals.

Asha learned about Milango through advertisements. She joined with the aim of accessing credit to improve her business operations. Her main challenges are price fluctuations. Asha is applying for a loan of 43,200 Kenya shillings to buy retail and food stock such as rice, cereals, wheat flour, cooking oil, etc. Asha will use the extra income from the loan for savings, to improve her family's living standard and to pay school fees for her children. She looks forward to owning a large business space and a wholesale shop in the future.
