Bidii Group's story

Bidii is a group of 13 farmers in Kakamega South District represented by Tom. The group has 7 women and 6 men. Tom is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of maize, millet, and sorghum. Tom first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2012 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Tom joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and use the increased profits to send his children to school.

Tom described his harvest as good last year, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and for loan repayment. Bidii group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 61/2 acres of maize and sorghum.
