Panga Kilimo Group's story

David is pictured on the right with his hand raised amongst his Panga Kilimo Group members. The 10 of them, 7 women and 3 men, are farmers in Kakamega South District. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of maize, millet, and sorghum. The 2013 Long Rains season will be David’s first season with One Acre Fund. He joined this year in order to grow enough food for the family and to be provided with enough farm inputs.

Last year, David harvested 5 bags of maize on 3 acres of land. He is excited to improve his harvest as a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and repair his home. For the 2013 Long Rains season, David’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 5 acres of land.
