A loan of $400 helped to buy sacks of organic manure.

Gonzalo's story

Gonzalo, 43, shares his married life with Eudolia, 42; they form a home with five children. All his work and effort is entirely devoted to their well-being. He lives in a wood house he acquired many years ago.

As a youth, he was taught by his parents how do to the various productive activities related to cocoa bean and organic coffee growing thus discovering his work vocation. Later, when he became an adult, thanks to his accomplishments he obtained his first plot of land passed down from his parents which from then on would be his source of family support. He thus rises every morning and with his family heads out to his crops to provide care for his cocoa bean trees because that’s what obtaining higher profits depends on because local crop consolidators pay good prices for good product. Because the rains are constant during this season of the year, he needs to have capital for crop maintenance and to buy supplies needed to guarantee a good quality harvest.

His future plans point towards starting a new business: a grocery store his wife can manage so the family can have a new source of income. On this occasion, he needs to have 1,000 new soles to buy sacks of organic manure so his cocoa bean trees can grow properly.
