Wesakulila Group's story

Protus is a member of Wesakulila Group in Bungoma South District. He is pictured with 12 One Acre Fund farmers. The group consists of nine women and three men. Protus is standing on the right with his hand raised.

Protus is receiving an input loan for half an acre of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Protus first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2009 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to access the best input prices and to be educated in good farming techniques.

Protus described his harvest as excellent last year as a One Acre Fund farmer, and he hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and to repair his home.

For the 2013 Long Rains season, Protus’s group members will take input loans of half an acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on six acres of land.
