Yima Group's story

Yima Group is located in Bungoma South District. It is a group of eight women and five men and it is led by Juliana, who is pictured on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for a half acre of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Juliana is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and to gain better skills in farming.

Juliana managed to harvest three bags of maize on half an acre of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, she hopes to harvest even more. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and to purchase more land.

For the 2013 Long Rains season, Juliana’s group members will take input loans for a half acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on six and a half acres of land.
