Jane is a 41-year-old woman who is married with six children. She lives in Clarin, in Misamis Occidental. She runs a retail business selling phone accessories, which she has owned and managed for over five years. Jane makes about 5,000 Philippines Pesos (PHP) a month.
Jane joined GDMPC in 2007, and is now asking for a loan of 9,500 PHP to buy additional accessories. She plans to use the extra revenues generated by the loan to secure a better future for her children.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
