Ermalyn is a 35-year-old married woman with two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental in the Philippines. Ermalyn makes a living through her shop, which she owns and manages in her local village. She has had the shop for over three years, and makes 10,000 Philippines Pesos (PHP) a month.
Ermalyn joined GDMPC in 2011. She is now asking for a loan of 12,000 PHP to buy more products like soap, shampoo, sugar, coffee, rice and canned goods. She plans to use the extra revenue generated to improve and expand her business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
