Bulondo A Group's story

Bulondo A is a group of 10 farmers in Bungoma South District, represented by Mary. The group has 8 women and 2 men. Mary is on the right of the photo with her hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to her on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of maize, millet and sorghum. Mary first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2010 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Mary joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and gain good training on farming.

Mary described her harvest as excellent last year as a One Acre Fund farmer and hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. She hopes that her profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send her children to school and invest in cows. Mary’s group members will each receive input loans for ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total they will receive inputs for 5 acres of maize and sorghum.
