Savoeurn is a citizen from Kampong Cham Province’s Dambae district. She is 31 years old and has three schoolchildren under her dependency. To provide her children with daily decent food, she manages a rice farm and a cassava field together with her husband. It is the business that she has been involved with for 10 years. This is the fourth loan for Savoeurn with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. She has managed to use the past loans wisely in order to reduce the family’s hardships and improve her standard of living. Now, she is applying for a new loan to buy fertilizer for her farmland and to pay for labor fees. She hopes to grow both cash crops fruitfully and healthily so she can sustain her living condition and keep her children in school until tertiary level.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
