A loan of $725 helped to pay for cloth, thread, electric iron and a sewing machine.

Stella's story

Stella is married and a mother of two children. With a heavy responsibility on her husband to provide for her children and those of her the entire family, she decided to become a GHAPE member in 2008 so she can obtain a loan and continue with her dress-making activity to raise money and assist her husband in paying school fees and provide food for her children.

She was trained in business management, marketing techniques and credit discipline and since then has showed commitment in investing and repaying loans three times.

Given a loan, she plans to buy cloth, thread, electric iron and a sewing machine. She knows her activity will succeed because she has a ready market for her dresses and she has so many customers. She also says members of her community will obtain good dresses at very cheap prices.

She plans to raise money to invest in an additional line of business and buy medicine for the family.
