A loan of $600 helped to buy construction materials.

Juan Sixto's story

Sixto is 43 years old, but he has the joy and spirt of a young man of 20. He lives in the city of Camaná, which is characterized by its warm a welcoming climate. There is a lot of agriculture here, particularly the cultivation of rice, and we can also appreciate the varied food. In particular, one of the favorite dishes of the area is the delicious shrimp soup. Sixto learned to work when he was very young as his parents had few economic resources and, because of this, he was only able to study up to the 5th grade of secondary school.
Day in and day out, Sixto works as a motorcycle-taxi driver. Working hard at this job enables him to cover the household expenses. He works about 10 hours a day and may have 15 customers a day. He believes that he is doing well in his work because he is responsible and friendly to his customers.
Sixto is very grateful to the Kiva lenders as, thanks to the help they have offered, he will be able to buy construction materials such as cement, concrete, sand, and other things with which he will make improvements to his home such as repairing the walls, and improving the floors and plumbing. In this way, he will be able to have a better quality of life and continue fighting to achieve his greatest dream: to have a transportation business.
