A loan of $3,175 helped a member purchase coffee.

Nuevos Senderos (Cuenca) Group's story

The Nuevos Senderos communal bank has nine enterprising women members who fight every day to improve the economic stability of their homes and to move their families forward. The members are nice, charismatic women who still maintain the culture and traditions of their people. They live in the city of Cuenca, where there are different places to enjoy nature, colonial architecture, its cuisine and the warmth of its people.

One of the members in this group is Etelvina. She is making her first loan with the Nuevos Senderos communal bank. She was invited by a neighbor who has been a member for some time. She lives in the Narancay community in the city of Cuenca.

Etelvina is 44 years old, married and she has six children. Two children are studying at the university. They work and help her economically. One of her children is only studying at the university. Her three other children are young and study at a school in the city. Her husband works in the mining industry. The house where they live is their own.

Etelvina takes care of her family but two months ago, she started selling organic coffee which is very good for one’s health. Little by little, this business has gained more customers. At her house, she raises chickens and plants vegetables.
Her new loan will be invested in the purchase of coffee for her new business.

Her goal is to grow her business.
