A loan of $1,525 helped to buy clothes and feed for animals.

Cruz Carmelina's story

Cruz joined the "Mujeres Floreciendo" communal bank ten years ago. There, her colleagues and friends have become like another family, with a spirit of comradeship and support. Cruz lives in the Paccha parish in Cuenca. A place with a cold climate, Paccha's hills give you plenty of places to visit and enjoy. The people are friendly, kind and very hard-working. They still maintain the culture and traditions of the towns.

Cruz is 58 years old, married and has two children. They are both now adults. One is married and independent while the other is studying and working. Cruz's husband is a security guard. They live in their own house.

Cruz has been selling sweets for seven years and for four years now she has also been selling clothes. She sells her merchandise all over the city, seven days a week, with no fixed working hours. Back at home, she raises pigs and chickens.

Her new loan will be invested in buying clothes and in feed for her animals.

Her dream is to travel to the US.
