A loan of $450 helped to buy cosmetics and a sewing machine.

Jenny Alexandra's story

Jenny is a young member who is now on her fourth loan with the "Mujeres Floreciendo" communal bank. Since her first loan she has come to know her friends and neighbours much better and more and more her friendships with them are growing stronger. Jenny lives in the Totoracocha district in the city of Cuenca. The city enjoys a mixture of colonial and modern architecture and its people are kind, friendly and still hold on to the culture and traditions of their towns.

Jenny is 25 years old. She is single and lives with her mother, a trader. The house where they live is rented.

For seven years Jenny has been working as a seamstress, a skill which she learned through work. She now works in a factory from Monday through Saturday. She has now been selling cosmetics for a year.

Her loan will be invested in buying cosmetics and a sewing machine so that, little by little, she can start her own business.

Her goal is to have her own sewing workshop.
