Bulondo E Group's story

Janpher is pictured on the right with her hand raised amongst her Bulondo E Group members. The 10 of them - 9 women and 1 man - are farmers in Bungoma South District. Farming inputs will be delivered to Janpher on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant half an acre of maize, millet, and sorghum. Janpher is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 long rains season. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for her family and use the increased profits to send her children to school.

Last year, Janpher harvested 4 bags of maize on 1 acre of land. She is excited to improve her harvest as a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 long rains season. She plans to use the money that she earns from her next harvest to send her children to school and save for the future. For the 2013 long rains season, Janpher’s group members will take input loans of half an acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 5 acres of land.
