A loan of $400 helped to buy materials to make aprons, such as thread and different coloured fabric.

Antonia's story

Antonia, who is 50 years old, is a hard working woman. She lives with Armando, her husband for the past 23 years. They have 4 children, but only one, Karina, lives with them. They support her in their own home, which Antonia got 30 years ago.

She minds her grandchild while she can, as her daughter works. Her main economic activity is making traditional aprons that the women use for everyday wear. Her work is going very well, so much so that she travels to the different cities around to sell the aprons by the unit. This way gives her higher profits. However, during festivals she sells the aprons in bulk as she receives orders for them. She also buys and sells dried vegetables. She sells these at the wholesale market. This gives her some extra money.

For his part, her husband works in public transport with a bus that he acquired thanks to her work. He transports the residents of city of Cochas to the centre of Huancayo. She is very happy as her older children always send her a monthly allowance. She is delighted to see them doing well. She is a member of the solidarity group called “Mollecito” and this is the 11th loan with MFP. She is very happy knowing that she will have financial support and feels sure that her business will progress. She also promises to make her payments.

Antonia will invest the money requested to buy materials to make aprons, such as thread and different coloured fabric.
