A loan of $200 helped to purchase organic fertilizer for his crops.

Gerardo's story

Gerardo is a 51-year-old hardworking man. He lives with his wife Julia, with whom he has six children, in a house they bought 20 years ago. His wife goes to their crops very early in the day, and although they no longer work together, they help each other constantly. Gerardo says that a little while ago he started working for a road construction company where he receives a monthly salary that helps with household expenses. For this reason, his wife took over the reins of the farming business, caring for their crops of corn, potatoes and other vegetables. They also have six cows that produce many liters of milk that they sell to cheese makers who come every afternoon. Now, Gerardo hopes to be able to increase his livestock because of the daily profits the animals produce. "Farming is seasonal," says Gerardo, who helps out in the fields during his free time and on weekends. He belongs to the "La Rosa De Paltarumi" community bank and this is his first loan with Kiva partner MFP, and he is very satisfied with the ability to further develop his activities with the support of all of you. He promises to make his payments on time, since he has always been a hardworking and honest person. Gerardo plans to invest the loan to purchase organic fertilizer for his crops.
