A loan of $4,150 helped a member to buy more chicken and fish to fry and sell.


Upendo Kigogo Group's story

Nuru, who is in her mid-40s, is married with two sons, one of whom goes to school. The other one is small. Nuru has been selling fried chicken and fish for two years now. She works from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily and is able to make a fair monthly profit. This will be Nuru's second loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. She used the previous loan to buy more fish and chicken, and covered household expenses. She has paid back her loan successfully. She will use this loan to buy more chicken and fish to fry and sell. Her dream is to one day be able to own a hotel. Nuru will share this loan with her loan group, "Upendo Kigogo", with 17 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
