Bulondo H Group's story

Hansan is a member of Bulondo H Group in Bungoma South District. He is pictured with ten One Acre Fund farmers, six women and four men. Hansan is standing on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ an acre of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Hansan first enrolled with One Acre Fund during the 2011 Long Rains and is now preparing to be a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. Hansan joined One Acre Fund in order to gain access to hybrid seeds and fertilizer and to grow enough food for the family.

Prior to joining One Acre Fund, Hansan was only able to harvest six bags of maize per acre, but after joining One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2012, he was able to harvest 13 bags per ½ acre. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and invest in cows. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Hansan’s group will receive five acres worth of inputs on credit.
