A loan of $700 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, millet, and sorghum.


Victorious H Group's story

Victorious H Group is located in Bungoma South District. It is a group of eight women and three men led by Thomas, pictured on the right with his hand raised. Thomas is receiving an input loan for 0.5 acres of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Thomas joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2009, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Thomas joined One Acre Fund, so that he could gain access the best input prices and grow enough food for the family. Thomas described his last year's harvest as good, but believes he can have an even better one this year. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school and to repair his home. Victorious H Group members will each receive input loans of 0.5 acres during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total, they will receive inputs for 5.5 acres of maize and sorghum.
