Victorious E Group's story

Victorious E is a group of 10 farmers in Bungoma South District, represented by Benard. The group has 7 women and 3 men. Benard is on the right of the photo, with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ an acre of maize, millet and sorghum.

Benard joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2011, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Benard joined One Acre Fund so that he could grow enough food for the family and use the increased profits to send his children to school. Prior to joining One Acre Fund, Benard was able to harvest only 1.5 bags of maize per half-acre. After joining One Acre Fund, during the Long Rains 2012 he was able to harvest 6 bags per half-acre. He hopes that his profits from the 2013 Long Rains season can be used to send his children to school and to save for the future.

Benard’s group members will each receive input loans for ½ acre, for the 2013 Long Rains season. In total, they will receive inputs for five acres of maize, millet and sorghum.

In this group: Benard, Ajiabo, David, Electina, Hellen, Isaac, Benedetta, Mwanaisho, Janetta, Petronilla
