A loan of $650 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, millet, and sorghum.


Bidii Group's story

Bidii is a group of 20 farmers in Bungoma District represented by Joseph. The group has three women and seven men. Joseph is on the right of the photo with his hand raised. Farming inputs will be delivered to him on credit consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ acre of maize, millet and sorghum. The 2013 Long Rains season will be Joseph's first season with One Acre Fund. He joined this year in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer and plans to use increased profits to send his children to school and to buy his son a plot of land.

Joseph managed to harvest two bags of maize on 1 1/2 acre of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, he hopes to harvest even more. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Joseph’s group will receive 5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
