Muyayi South A Group's story

Muyayi South A Group is located in Bungoma District. It is a group of 15 women and 6 men led by Geoffrey pictured on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. The 2013 Long Rains season will be Geoffrey’s first season with One Acre Fund. He joined this year in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer, grow enough food for his family, and fight hunger in the commmunity.

Last year, Geoffrey harvested 8 bags of maize on 1 acre of land. He is excited to improve his harvest as a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and invest in cows. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Geoffrey’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 10.5 acres of land.
