A loan of $1,300 helped to purchase cosmetics, perfumes, pants, shorts, dress and underwear.

Olga Elena's story

Olga is 32 years old, married and has a 6-year-old son. She is a native of Leon, which is located in the western part of Nicaragua. In her free time she likes to spend quality time with her son. Sadly for Olga, she wasn't able to go for a college degree because of a lack of economic resources, but she would really like to study social work. Thanks to her hard work and her desire to move up in life she has a business selling general merchandise like cosmetics, perfumes, pants, shorts, dresses, underwear and garments of gold and silver. She sells on the street and at her home and has regular customers. She enjoys her work because it has supported herself and her family. She plans to use the loan to invest in working capital and to stock her business with merchandise so in the not-too-distant future she will earn more income. Olga is grateful for the help Kiva lenders provide to people with few resources in poor countries like Nicaragua so they have a means to a decent living.
