A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertilizer for the next planting season.

Julia's story

Julia is 30 years old and is a hard-working lady. She lives with her husband Antonio and together they have two children, Stefany and José. Julia looks after the children at home.
Together with her husband, Julia started investing time and effort in farming some land her husband inherited. They plant maize, squash and potatoes and show great dedication in tending to their crops. At planting time they work as hard as they can because they know their efforts will be rewarded - the higher the quality of their produce, the higher their earnings will be. Julia also raises livestock including cattle, pigs and sheep, which she fattens up to sell to the butchers who visit frequently. Using the milk from her cows, she makes an average of ten cheeses a day. She sells these to the local people who know how tasty her products are. She belongs to the “Sarita colonia” solidarity group and this is her first loan with MFP. She is grateful for the opportunities they offer her to improve her business. She promises to pay her instalments on time as she likes working within the group and the members are all responsible, dependable people.
Julia will invest the money she is requesting in the purchase of organic fertilizer for the next planting season as she intends to plant her crops over a larger area.
