Jose Antonio's story

José, 62, is married and has three children. He lives with his wife and two of his children in a village belonging to the municipality of Nueva Frontera, Santa Bárbara. José has spent his entire life working in agriculture; he has approximately 35 years’ experience. He grows coffee, corn and beans. His coffee production is the largest and he sells it in the local market. He’s decided to request a loan for 20,000 Lempiras to provide farm maintenance and add technological advances to production. He’s going to buy fertilizer to prepare the soil and will use the loan also to pay for the weeding, planting and pruning. His goal is to expand the crops and also has the personal goal of building his house with concrete blocks.
