Marangu's story

Marangu lives in the Nanyuki area of Central Province, Kenya. He is married and has eight children. He owns a tea tree farm, a business he has been operating for one year now. Besides this, he has been a horticultural farmer, planting potatoes, maize, and beans for the last 17 years. The oil from the tea plant is used to manufacture cosmetics.

Marangu learned about Milango Financial Services through a friend who invited him to the group. He joined with an aim of accessing credit to improve on his business operations. His main challenges are lack of funds and water.

Marangu is applying for a loan of KES 10,734 (Kenya shillings) to buy tea tree seedlings. His extra income will be added to his savings to improve the living standard of his family. He aspires to expand the area for tea trees and open a cereals shop.
