A loan of $100 helped to pay for 21 low-cost LED lights to resell to rural households without electricity.


Fortune's story

Fortune is a 23 year old woman from Ngoma District in the Eastern Province of Rwanda. She is seeking a loan of $100 to purchase 21 rechargeable LED lights, which she will resell to people without electricity in her village. Every week or so, these customers will return to her to have their lights recharged for just $0.20. With the money she makes from selling and recharging lights, she will pay for her children's school fees.
