The 2013 Long Rains season will be Edmond’s first season with One Acre Fund. He joined this year in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer, access the best input prices, grow enough food for the family, and use increased profits to send his children to school.

Edmond managed to harvest 5 bags of maize on 1 acre of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, he hopes to join the ranks of farmers who double their harvest in the first year of the program. He plans on using future profits from the harvest to send his children to school, repair his home, invest in a cow, save for the future, and perhaps invest in another business.

During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit. Edmond’s group will receive 5 acres worth of inputs on credit.
