A loan of $525 helped to buy gourds.

Fatoumata's story

Madam Fatoumata is more than 39 years old. She is married and mother to 3 children and lives with her husband and their children in Banconi, one of the outlying neighborhoods of the town of Sikasso (third administrative region of the republic of Mali).

After having managed many businesses without success, Madam Fatoumata started buying and selling gourds about 4 years ago. Due to the concern of better satisfying her clientele which is growing more and more, she decided to join the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso several years ago. After several loans in solidarity (group loans) in a women's association in her neighborhood (Association AMIDEE in Banconi), she is currently on her third individual loan and the two previous loans were correctly repaid.

Thus, she is requesting this third loan to buy 10 parcels of gourds in order to resell them retail to her customers consisting of men and women.

With this loan she envisions making an average monthly profit of 95,000 FCFA which will be used to increase her business, contribute to the family's expenses and pay the interest on her loan.
