A loan of $775 helped a member to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, millet, and sorghum.

Nasinga Group's story

Nasinga is a group of 12 women farmers in Bungoma South District, represented by Gladys, on the right of the photo with her hand raised. Gladys will receive farming inputs on credit, consisting of the necessary materials to plant ½ an acre of maize, millet and sorghum. Gladys is a new One Acre Fund farmer. She joined One Acre Fund in order to grow enough food for the family and to use the increased profits to send her children to school.

Gladys describes her last year's harvest as good but believes she can have an even better one this year. She plans on using future profits from the harvest to send her children to school and to save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each group member will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs on credit, for a group total of 6 acres' worth of inputs.
