Chek is a breadwinner in a family consisting of five children, residing in Sangke district of Battambang province. Currently, he and his wife need to support only three children as they are still in school. To provide decent daily food for their children, this couple grows corn and cabbage. Chek has been involved in this business for 25 years and is able to earn up to 20,300 KHR per day to support himself and his family.

This is a first loan group consisting of three members. The total amount for this group loan is 2,400,000 KHR. Chek, the leader, is going to spend his loan portion in amount of 400,000 KHR to pay plowing fees and to buy potash plus insecticide for his corn field. He hopes to gain more yield and earn triple the income so that he can set aside some money in order to buy a water pump for his cash-crop.
