Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,075 helped a member to buy fertilizer and to pay for transplanting and water pumping.

Srim's Group's story

Srim is 36 years old and a mother of two schoolgirls residing in Prey Chor District of Kampong Cham Province. The one and a half hectares of farmland where her crop is growing is the main source of income for her family. She is able to earn about 18,300 KHR per day from the current business, which she has been working with for 15 years. For her, shortages of water supply and working capital to support her farmland are the main business challenges.

Srim is not a first-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner), as she has been with VisionFund for two past cycles already. She has managed to support her family better and expand her business on a bigger scale as well as to send her children to school.

Now, she is seeking 1,400,000 KHR, the same amount as requested by her co-borrowers who are in the same group of three female members. As a leader, she is going to spend her loan portion to buy fertilizer and to pay for transplanting and water pumping for her rice farm. She hopes to gain more yield in order to make more income for her family.
