A loan of $4,500 helped a member to purchase tree farm inputs such as eucalyptus seedlings and fertilizer, as well as to pay for technical training and maintenance support.

Nicholas' Group's story

Nicholas is a 39-year-old farmer and machine operator; his wife is a farmer, too. When the machines break down, Nicholas is out of work, and when there is drought his farming suffers.

Nicholas says, "The KOMAZA trees will improve the environment and it’s a future investment." Nicholas intends to start a poultry business with his profits from the tree farm.

Nicholas continues, "It’s a good and worthwhile project to invest in, as it brings good changes - income and environment."

There are two adults pictured that will not be planting trees with KOMAZA this season; one is the husband of KOMAZA-Kiva farmer Joyce and the other Jacinta is very interested in the program but unable to plant with KOMAZA this season.

In this group: Nicholas, Mwaka, Esther, Kitsao, Samuel, Nyadzya, Florence, Shume, Joyce
