Namono A Group's story

Basilisa’s group has ten farmers and is located in Bungoma South District. Basilisa is pictured on the right of Namono A Group with her hand raised. She is pictured amongst the three men and seven women of her group.

Basilisa will receive input loans capable of planting ½ acre with sorghum, millet, and maize. The 2013 Long Rains season will be Basilisa’s first season with One Acre Fund. She joined this year in order to gain access to hybrid seed and fertilizer, access the best input prices, grow enough food for the family, and use the increased profits to send her children to school.

Last year, Basilisa harvested ½ bag of maize on ¼ acre of land. She is excited to improve her harvest as a One Acre Fund farmer during the 2013 Long Rains season. She plans on using future profits from the harvest to send her children to school, repair her home, and invest in a cow.

Basilisa’s group members will each receive input loans of ½ acre during the 2013 Long Rains season. In total, they will receive inputs for 5 acres of maize and sorghum.
